Molding Temperatures

Solvent-based mold release agents are generally suitable for a wider range of operating temperatures than their water-based equivalents. Solvents are a great choice when storing at or below freezing, applying at room temperature or above 400°F (204°C), and for humid climates where evaporation is slowed. With the wide variety of solvent-based options McLube offers, we are confident that we can find a dilutant that fits into your process and time constraints for effective release you can rely on.

Non-flammable options

McLube’s line of solvent-based mold release agents includes non-flammable options suitable for natural and synthetic rubber, polymer, polyurethane, and composites molding. McLube’s non-flammable solvent-based mold releases were created to help customers improve plant safety while enjoying the fast-drying properties of solvent formulas. Contact McLube to learn more about our line of non-flammable solvent-based release agents.

Eliminating Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)

McLube has developed a line of solvent-based release agents that contain little or no volatile organic compounds. Volatile organic compounds are defined as organic chemicals with high vapor pressures at room temperature—they evaporate quickly at room temperature. Various types of VOCs reportedly contribute to global warming and could pose significant compounding health concerns to those who are frequently exposed. While McLube has taken steps to limit VOCs in all products, we have also developed a line of low-VOC and VOC-free solvent-based release agents to meet the needs of the future and help customers make their plants safer for employees. Current and future customers interested in our line of VOC-free release agents may contact McLube for more details and free samples. Water-based mold release agents also present inherently VOC-free options for molders with the benefit of being non-flammable and non-combustible.
